The panel
Every block of the panel, top to bottom, and what each of the five tabs holds.
The button in the corner of the instance opens it. Everything in it reads your instance through your own session, and nothing in it runs until you ask.
Top to bottom
| Block | What it is |
|---|---|
| Header | Theme, refresh, people and chat, your account, and these docs, opened on holysn.com |
| Profile | Which set of scripts and preferences is loaded. Switch or create one here |
| Domain | On an instance with domain separation only: the domain your session is in, with a searchable list to move to another. Switching uses the platform's own picker and reloads the page. Without domains the row is not there |
| Application scope | The scope your session is in. Switching here is the same as switching in the platform's own picker |
| Active update set | What you are capturing into, always visible. One button opens the set's record, the arrow deploys it to your other instances |
| Auto-Insert | The switch, and a pause for a temporary stop |
| Counters | Captured this session, captured in total, and skipped because they were already tracked |
| Tools | Inspect set, Orphans, Promote check, Set hygiene, and the alignment check |
| Tabs | Records, Scripts, Wildcards, Logs, Settings |
The first three lines are why the panel is worth keeping open: the profile, the scope and the update set are the three things that decide where your work lands, and all three are usually two clicks away in the platform.
Records
A rolling history of what was captured. From a row you can:
Undo — remove the change from the update set. A real platform operation, not a local delete.
Diff — compare two versions of the record field by field, and revert to an earlier one.
Export — dump the history, for a ticket or a handover note.
Scripts
Your personal script library, synced to your account and tied to a profile. Covered in saved scripts.
Wildcards
Short triggers that expand into snippets, in any ServiceNow script field. Covered in wildcards.
Logs
What the extension did, in order, including the decisions it made quietly: every guard verdict, including the ones where it stayed silent, every rule that fired or was skipped, and every script run with what it printed.
Settings
The panel's own switches. The account-level settings, profiles, permissions, themes, the vault and
your instances, live in the settings page, which /settings opens.
| Setting | Does |
|---|---|
| Theme, density | Dark or light; cozy or compact rows |
| Toast on capture | A toast each time a record is tracked |
| Don't focus the first field | Opening a record leaves the keyboard where it was |
| Skip tracked tables | Do not insert what the platform already captured |
| Auto-switch scope | Follow the scope of the record you open. Reloads the form once |
| Default-set guard | Warn before saving into the Default set |
| Insert guard | Confirm Insert and Insert and Stay on an existing record |
| Monaco on widget HTML/CSS | The editor on a widget's template and CSS fields, from the next form load |
| Editor right-click menu | The editor's own menu in ServiceNow's script editors |
| Search in English | On a translated instance, type the English name in the All menu and the local one is found |
| Pre-complete check | Check a set for missing dependencies when you complete it |
| Personal rules | The master switch for every triggered script |
| Pause duration | How long a pause of Auto-Insert lasts before it resumes itself |
| Property prefix | The prefix of the properties the hard-coded sys_id fix creates |
The toolbar popup
The extension's icon in the browser toolbar opens a small popup. The panel itself lives in the ServiceNow page; the popup is for the switches that belong to the browser rather than to a page.
| Row | What it is |
|---|---|
| Header | The version, your plan, and Manage plan, which opens your billing page on the site |
| Highlighted text | Highlight a name, a login, an email or a sys_id on the page and the user it belongs to shows here. See who is this user |
| This tab | The instance in the current tab, and whether the panel is running in it |
| Stored keys | How many entries the extension keeps in this browser's storage |
| Dark mode | ServiceNow's dark mode, on or off |
| In-page tabs | In-page tabs, on or off. Applies after you reload the tab |
| Node switching | Ask, Automatic or Off. See instances |
| Credentials | Opens the Credentials section of the settings page, the vault |
| Reload this tab | Reloads the current tab |
